In Missouri, all drivers are legally required to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance, often referred to as the "25/50/25" rule.
The exact state-mandated minimum limits are:
$25,000 for bodily injury liability per person.
$50,000 for bodily injury liability per accident (the maximum paid out if multiple people are injured).
$25,000 for property damage liability per accident.
Additionally, state law requires all drivers to carry Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage that matches the bodily injury limits ($25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident). Proof of this insurance must be kept in the vehicle at all times.
If you do not have personal car insurance coverage or travel coverage protection, the travel collision coverages can be purchased from the independent insurance providers.
